Jamie is a 21-year-old who was out of work for three years. Jamie is very motivated and enthusiastic, but was very shy and had a lack of confidence due to his learning and speech disability. This means that he often struggles when first meeting people, accessing public transport and attending training programmes.
Jamie started to access the Inspire and Achieve Foundation boxing programme as well as mentoring. He worked with IAF to improve his CV and interview skills, started to volunteer at the British Heart Foundation as a retail assistant and was soon signed up to the Get Into Retail programme with The Prince’s Trust. Jamie excelled on the program and was one of the few young people to be given a Christmas contract with Marks & Spencer in Nottingham. Jamie is still working there six months later, studying for a Level 2 qualification in customer service and is regularly mentioned in management meetings for the high standard of his work with customers.
