Case study: Ryan Gadsby
Prior to engaging with Inspire and Achieve Foundation, Ryan was studying a engineering course at West Notts college, but he began to feel frustrated because he wanted to enter employment as soon as possible.
Within two weeks of completing his course, Ryan was recommended to the Inspire and Achieve Foundation. He met with Sarah Farrow, the Programme and Progression Manager, who listened to what Ryan wanted to do, and as a result, referred him to the Prince’s Trust ‘Get into Construction’ programme. As part of the programme, Ryan completed a two week work placement on the construction site at Kier Living Central. Ryan really enjoyed the placement and continued to volunteer onsite – due to this commitment, Kier, rewarded him with a permanent job.
This academic year, Ryan is studying a carpentry and joinery course and is employed as a trainee assistant site manager at Keir. Once he has completed this he will progress onto an apprenticeship in site management.
Ryan said “Sarah kept in touch with me to see how I was doing throughout the Price’s Trust programme. I am now employed by Kier and my future feels bright. My parents couldn’t be happier and are really supportive of what I am doing. Thank you to Inspire and Achieve for pointing me in the right direction.”
