Case study: Callum Docherty
Callum is 19 years old, had no qualifications, and struggled at school. His lifestyle was very chaotic; he was living in a homeless hostel and was using drugs. He fell in with the wrong crowd and because of some poor decision making with regards to standing up to his peers he ended up in prison doing two and a half years for arson with intent.
IAF engaged with Callum the second week he was released from prison and he attended the Impact boxing project and had regular mentoring sessions with Jay. As a result of our intervention Callum is now attending CSCS training for two days a week which will open up opportunities in the construction sector. While he looks for work he is looking to remain busy and build a CV by applying to attend other short courses that will help him progress.
